Cambelts

How often should I change my cambelt?

It very much depends on the manufacturer – some manufacturers recommend changing your cambelt every 40,000 miles while others suggest every 100,000. You should be able to find the manufacturer recommendation in your vehicle handbook. However, if you’re at all unsure, pop into Walsgrave Garage, and we’ll be happy to advise you.

What happens if the cambelt breaks or snaps?

If your cambelt snaps, it can cause serious and costly damage to the engine, so the best option is to have your cambelt checked at Walsgrave Garage, as part of your regular car servicing, or bring it into us straight away if you notice any strange noises or a sudden decrease in engine performance.

At Walsgrave Garage we want you to have as much peace of mind as possible that your vehicle is in the best hands. That’s why we work hard to achieve and maintain the industry accreditations and affiliations that we have – to give you the reassurance that we have endorsements to show that what we say, is actually what we do. We’re proud to work with the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency, the Retail Motor Industry Federation and Trust My Garage; one of the UK’s foremost independent garage organisations which has some of the strictest codes of practice for vehicle service and repair.
